The USC Aphasia Lab is hosting a Community Leadership Course with Able SC, sponsored by the SC Developmental Disabilities Council for people with disabilities and family members of individuals with disabilities, teaching them how to serve on boards, councils, committees, and commissions. Most importantly, this six-week course teaches people with disabilities and family members how to develop advocacy, leadership, and self-advocacy skills. These skills are essential for people with disabilities to thrive and co-lead the direction of their lives alongside family members. This course helps individuals learn how to lead and advocate, develop professionalism, soft skills, communication strategies (traditional and non-traditional), understand financial statements, networking, disability culture, and rights, and serve in the community using disability pride and confidence!
The USC Aphasia Lab has kindly offered to open its course to others in the community who want to participate virtually. The course will consist of six 1 ½ hour classes with breaks from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Tuesdays, from October 4 to November 8, 2022, on Zoom. Please share with your clients, community partners, and family members!
