Able South Carolina (Able SC) is South Carolina’s premier organization promoting disability rights, independence, and equity for individuals with disabilities. The VP and Chief Advocacy and Independent Living Officer (VP-CAILO) is responsible for creating opportunities to advance the rights and justice for people with disabilities, while focusing on the intersections of disability. Able SC’s advocacy efforts align with our commitment to “nothing about us, without us.” The person identified for this position will also lead the organization’s advocacy goals, and leads and oversees the consumer advocacy, Independent Living and Information and referral services. In consultation with Able SC’s President & CEO, the VP-CAILO develops, manages, and executes Able SC’s advocacy agenda. The VP-CAILO also leads Able SC’s position statements as it relates to persons with disabilities and steers grassroots advocacy. The VP-CAILO serves as a member of the decision making leadership team.
The purpose of this position is to direct the organization’s transition services, advocate for equitable and evidence-based education and transition services, and establish collaborative community relationships in order to ensure quality outcomes with transition-age consumers. The Director of Youth Transition Programs would coordinate partnerships with state and local education and vocational agencies, school districts, and community organizations. They would also oversee the curriculum, programming and services provided to students.
The purpose of this position is to promote quality outcomes for school and transition-age consumers on both a systemic and individual level. The Education Transition Specialist will establish ongoing and collaborative community relationships with partner agencies, assist in the development of resources and data-driven reports, provide outreach and education to professionals, parents, and youth with disabilities, and assist in the coordination and implementation of youth-centered community events.
The Digital Accessibility Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of digital accessibility assessments to increase digital access for people with disabilities. They will audit websites & web applications and test user interfaces against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), as well as provide consultation about how to implement remediations. The Digital Accessibility Specialist must be detail-oriented and enjoy working in a fast paced and results driven environment.
Financial Literacy: Members will work in the community with our consumers to build skills around financial literacy and employment.
Homeless No More: Members will work with Homeless No More to support their clients by connecting them to the community, helping them build skills, assist new consumers through the intake process, and working one-on-one on other tasks.
