Columbia, SC  29208

Description:
Assistive technology devices can be very expensive, but some don’t have to be. Examples of how to make assistive technology devices using common objects around the home will be demonstrated. The fundamentals of appropriately selecting and the functional use of various assistive technology devices will be reviewed. The workshop will conclude with a make-and-take opportunity for participants to choose from different projects to construct and keep. Returning this year is the opportunity to make an adaptive switch that you can use right away with your battery adapted device! The instructions and materials are simple and no messy soldering. A switch gives you another method for working on skills related to cause-and-effect, language, social interaction, motor, positioning and much more!

This workshop has a maximum of 12 participants.

About the Speaker:
Carol Page, PhD, CCC-SLP, ATP is the Program Manager of the SC Assistive Technology Program at the USC School of Medicine, Center for Disability Resources.  Carol is a USC adjunct professor and provides trainings locally to internationally on assistive technology for people with disabilities, their caregivers and professionals.
