This event is coordinated through the efforts of the SC Disability Employment Coalition. Members of the Coalition are employers, state and private agencies, and individuals with disabilities working to address the employment barriers of people with disabilities in South Carolina. The SCDEC is supported through funding from the SC Developmental Disabilities Council and the Administration for Community Living at the US Department of Health and Human Services.

 

 



Kindness rocks! How rock painting is connecting families nationwide

It's a simple act of kindness that's making a big impact in communities across the country. From Vermont to Arizona, rock painting groups are brightening the days of strangers — one colorful rock at a time.
 
Organized by state, county or town, the groups often originate on Facebook, gathering local members who wish to join in the fun of painting rocks, hiding rocks and hunting for rocks painted by others.  

To those involved, the most exciting part isn't the  growth of the movement, but the ability to bring joy and thoughtfulness to their community.

Description:  Assistive technology can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be! Participants will learn how common items found in the home can be used as assistive technology and how to match assistive technology to specific needs.  The workshop will include a make-and-take opportunity for participants to choose from different AT projects to construct and take home.  This workshop has a maximum of 12 participants.

Alli received her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Carolina and worked with individuals with disabilities. She is currently a Program Coordinator at the SC Assistive Technology Program where she helps adults and children acquire assistive technology devices and equipment through the Reuse service.

The South Carolina Spinal Cord Injury Association is excited to bring you some of the happenings around the state. From our Breeze Peer Support Groups to adaptive fishing, there is something for everyone!

 

We are currently updating our database and need to make sure the current contact information we have is correct - address, phone, and email.
