Parents of Preschoolers: Sign up now for Text 2 Read!

FAMILY CONNECTION OF SOUTH CAROLINA 
& SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION 
LAUNCH TEXT 2 READ PROGRAM


We are delighted to partner with the South Carolina Department of Education to launch a new program called Text 2 Read for parents of preschoolers! Parents can use their cell phone to text T2R to 734-5BOOK52 (734-526-6552) to receive free weekly text messages offering practical tips and activities to promote reading readiness. Texts are created from South Carolina’s early learning standards and are segmented for early preschoolers, 36-48 months old or older preschoolers, 48-60 months old.

Text 2 Read also provides parents with information to monitor their child’s growth and developmental milestones. Parents can sign up for the program starting May 18th. Messages will be sent each Friday at 3:00 p.m. starting on May 22nd. Join today!

Participants will learn the ADA requirements for ramps and what materials are used to build ramps. There will be a question and answer session at the end of the presentation. 

Speakers:

Sheri Hutto is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist and has been with Amramp since 2013. Prior to Amramp she worked in the Medical Sales field for Diabetic Supplies and Orthotics & Prosthetics. She is a 2003 Graduate of Charleston Southern University, with a Bachelor of Science degree focusing on Criminal Justice and Business Administration. She resides in Summerville, SC.

Allen Cates is also a Certified Aging in Place Specialist and has been with Amramp since 2016. Prior to Amramp he worked in Banking for Bank of America and PNC. He is a 2000 Graduate of Wake Forest University with a degree in Economics. He has an MBA from Manchester Business School in the UK. He resides in Charlotte, NC.

Steps to Your Health Course

ABLE SC Steps to Your Health Class promo

Steps to Your Health is an 8-week course that covers basic info about healthy eating and exercising, designed specifically for people with disabilities and other health conditions! 

You'll set your health goals in the beginning, and each session you'll learn about different topics like:

  • healthy eating habits,
  • advocating for your health with a healthcare provider,
  • adaptive exercise,
  • and stress management.

Each class is tailored to your needs and abilities.

Webinar: Read OutLoud and Write OutLoud

Learn about Read OutLoud and Write OutLoud and how these programs can help students with reading, reading comprehension, concept mapping and writing composition. Participants will be able to identify students who may benefit from these programs. Participants are encouraged to share personal experiences using Read OutLoud and Write Outloud during the Q&A session.


Webinar: Dragon speech recognition made easy!

Yoga and Mindfulness for All!

Share the benefits of yoga and mindfulness 
with your students or the young adults in your life!

Students who have participated in yoga and mindfulness programming have improved self-image, reduced stress, managed negative emotions better, and increased optimism. Able SC has virtual guided lessons on yoga and mindfulness where videos of direct instruction explain various yoga sequences, breathing exercises, and mindfulness tools, and a self-reflection for the student to complete on their own.

These lessons address the immediate social-emotional learning needs of students in this stressful climate and support physical education and health requirements. All lessons available TODAY!

Topics include:

  • Developing self-awareness
  • Identifying and navigating stress
  • Meeting your needs/self-care
  • Self-esteem
