EMPOWER HOUR 2024 In-person and online! Peer Networking - Discover your power! Have a disability? Want to build your support network? Empower Hour is led by your peers and meets to discuss independence, share resources, make new friends, and give support to each other. Empower Hour is a great chance to connect with others.   Empower Hour Online: Every Thursday from 1 pm to 2 pm.   Empower Hour In-Person: Monthly from 4 pm to 5 pm in our Columbia and Greenville Offices  If you are interested in participating in either the online or in-person support group, please RSVP by email to info@able-sc.org or by calling 1-800-681-6805, TTY: 803-779-0949 at least one day before the meeting. The Equip Summer Series is a multi-day self-advocacy, disability pride, and skill-building opportunity for young adults with disabilities ages 13-28. Spread over two weeks, Summer Series meets in person in Greenville and Columbia to build skills that assist young adult leaders with increasing their independence! When? In Columbia June 17, 18, 20 and 21 from 9 am to 12 pm each day ​​​​​​​In Greenville June 24, 25, 27, and 28 from 9 am to 12 pm each day Who is Eligible? Young adults ages 13-28 with ANY type of disability. Family Connection SC, Pack the Park 2024

 

Pack the Park 2024 - Support Family Connection of SC Pack the Park is a philanthropic initiative hosted by the Columbia Fireflies at Segra Park with the help of Together SC and Central Carolina Community Foundation, offering a unique fundraising opportunity for nonprofits. On June 18, $5 from every ticket sold through the Pack the Park ticket link will be allocated back to the participating nonprofits, like Family Connection of SC. This approach not only supports the Columbia Fireflies but also serves as a powerful platform for community organizations to raise funds for their causes. By attending a Fireflies game, supporters enjoy a fun-filled evening and contribute to the betterment of their community through the charitable efforts of Pack the Park. Make sure to select Family Connection of SC when checking out to make sure your $5 per ticket goes to them. The gates will open at 6:00pm and the game will begin at 7:05pm as the Columbia Fireflies take on the Carolina Mudcats. Segra Park is Cashless and has a clear bag policy. The application portal will remain open until September 30, 2024. All new families will need to create a new account  during the open time frame.  If an account was created for the past school year, families will need to log in and confirm or make any necessary changes. Application Participate in a focus group about your child's oral health Parents & Caregivers of Children with Special Health Care Needs & Disabilities the Lucile Packard Foundation wants to hear from you. They want to know about your child's oral health and experiences with dental care. Help them learn about challenges families have navigating dental care for your child and what helps. Application   SC LEND is now accepting applications for 24-25 The South Carolina Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (SC LEND) program is now open for applications. This program prepares culturally competent professionals and interprofessional trainees across South Carolina to improve healthcare for children with disabilities.
