Tapping Into the Brain to Help a Paralyzed Man Speak
We've already seen people use brain computer interface to control a computer or even a robotic arm, but researchers have now pushed the technology even further by leveraging BCI to turn thoughts into speech. Using an electrode array and advanced algorithms, a man paralyzed by a brain stem stroke has been able to think about individual words and complete sentences and have a computer translate the signals into on screen text and ultimately, computer-generated speech.
