AUCD 2023 Conference: Call for Proposals Opens on May 1

Deadline: June 20, 2023

The AUCD Conference brings together more than 1,100 researchers, policymakers, practitioners, professionals, advocates, community leaders, and students. This annual event is designed to promote innovative thinking that will launch disability policy, research, and advocacy initiatives to the next level. nTIDE Deeper Dive – Employment for Hispanics with Disabilities

On the first Friday of every month, corresponding with the Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report, the nTIDE Lunch & Learn Webinar will take place as a live broadcast via Zoom to share the results of the latest nTIDE findings. In addition, we will provide news and updates from the field of Disability Employment, as well as host an invited panelist who will discuss current disability-related findings and events. The archived webinar will be available as a video as well as an audio-only download the following week.

Think College Awareness Week: College is for Everyone

Monday, April 24, 2023 - Friday, April 28, 2023

Join us as we kick off the "Think Higher. Think College." public awareness campaign to expand access to college for students with intellectual disabilities. This week-long celebration will take place between April 24-28, 2023, and will feature daily virtual learning events for students, families, educators, transition professionals, and higher education personnel. All events are free and open to the public.

Apply to present at AIR-P Research Day at Autism CARES 2023 by April 28

The Autism Intervention Research Network on Physical Health (AIR-P) will host its fifth plenary Research Day at the Autism CARES Meeting in July 2023. This event is part of the Autism CARES Meeting and will emphasize research led by autistic researchers and collaborators, highlighting content related to the physical health and overall well-being of autistic individuals. This in-person event will have no separate registration fee and is open to all.

Dually Diagnosed: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Autism and Hearing Loss

When a child who is deaf or hard of hearing also presents as autistic, what can audiologists do to promote appropriate care? This presentation will introduce the LEND trainees to the diagnostic challenges related to dual diagnosis, screening for secondary challenges and the role of audiology, and how to successfully create an interdisciplinary approach to ensure dually diagnosed children access the support they need.

Fostering Joy for Audiologists: Why and How to Embrace a "Joy Lens" in Working with Families

Tuesday, May 2, 2023, 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm ET

This presentation will introduce the LEND Audiology Fellows to the Fostering Joy movement, which aims to promote positive engagement between families and their deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) children, and to bolster professionals' ability to emphasize joy in the work that they do with children who are DHH. The presentation will include descriptions of Fostering Joy and the science behind why doing so is important. It will also offer suggestions for audiologists interested in embracing a "joy lens" in their work.
