Brain Injury Association: Upcoming Webinars

November 5, 2014 (Wednesday), 3:00 p.m. Eastern (12:00 Pacific) BIAA Caregiver Webinar: Practical Strategies for Managing Awareness Issues in the Community

Dr. Jennifer Schwartz-Mitchell, Director of Clinical Services, Cognitive Assessment and Solution, Humanim. Often people are discharged from rehabilitation before they have fully grasped how their injury affects them day to day. A lack of understanding of the changes that have happened from a brain injury can lead the person to believe they can do things they are not yet capable to do, such as drive or cook. This webinar will offer an overview of what “deficit awareness” is, and offer some strategies and tools to help the family and the person with a brain injury better manage their deficits as they continue to recover.

November 19, 2014 (Wednesday), 3:00 p.m. Eastern (12:00 Pacific) Business of Brain Injury Webinar:Quantification of Behavioral and Pharmacological Treatment Effects After Brain Injury

Jeff Kupfer, Ph.D., and Dixie Eastridge, M.A. will demonstrate how to identify characteristic patterns of behavior on a cumulative graph and how these patterns change as a function of environmental contingencies, medications, and interactions between these events. They will also show how cumulative graphs may be used to assess various neurobehavioral treatment outcomes.
