Description:

This workshop will provide an overview of the most technologically advanced portable video magnifiers and CCTV's with OCR/TTS products. Hands-on demonstration of Magnification Solutions (Hand held, stands, monocular, telescopes, contrast enhancing filters, lighting, hands free spectacle solutions and more) for all ages and all age related eye diseases. How to assess magnification in seconds w/dioptric equivalents. Training of focal lengths and best training techniques while using magnifiers. Addressing the needs of contrast and lighting. Join us for an informative and hands-on demonstration.

Targeted groups include teachers, administrators, VR counselors, students, AT consultants/specialists, individuals who are visually impaired, and anyone interested in Low Vision. Devices such as hand held magnifiers, stands, telescopes and other vision devices will be demonstrated.

On December 19, 2014, the U.S. Congress signed the Achieve A Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act into law. This enables people with disabilities to set up tax-free savings accounts to pay for expenses not covered by government-sponsored programs.

In this session, we will review both familiar and new scan setting features in Compass for the TSeries devices. We will discuss ways to introduce scanning when training an individual and consider a variety of pre-programmed pagesets that are organized specifically for scanning and/or have preset features to support more efficient message retrieval.
