Meet the Keynote Speakers: 

Lise Fox, PhD

Keynote Session: Changing practices, changing lives: Partnering with families to promote social emotional outcomes and address challenging behavior

Parents and professionals are increasingly aware of the critical importance of promoting social emotional skill development and addressing challenging behavior. Guiding social emotional development should begin in infancy and when there are social emotional delays or challenging behavior; effective intervention is a high priority. Learn more about the critical importance of early intervention, effective practices, and how professionals and families can team to achieve positive outcomes.

About the Keynote

Lise Fox, PhD, is a professor of Child and Family Studies in the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences at the University of South Florida (USF).

She also serves as the Co-Director of the Florida Center for Inclusive Communities, a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), the principal investigator for the OSEP-funded National Technical Assistance Center for Pyramid Model Innovations. 

Dr. Kerry Magro

Keynote Session: Defining Special Needs: From Nonverbal to Professional Speaker”

This is a presentation from award-winning national motivational speaker Kerry Magro on how he got to and survived the education experience growing up being on the spectrum and how his experiences, both good and bad, can help students with disabilities from early childhood to the transition into adulthood. Kerry, will present on his experiences with therapies focused on his early development, how he founded a disability awareness organization and a non-profit for special needs housing, his work on 3 best-selling books and much more!

About the Keynote

Dr. Kerry Magro is an award-winning professional speaker, best-selling author and autism consultant to the HBO series Mrs. Fletcher that will air this Fall. He started professional speaking 9 years ago via the National Speakers Association and has spoken at over 900 events during that time.

In addition, Kerry is CEO & President of KFM Making A Difference, a nonprofit organization that hosts inclusion events and has provided 68 scholarships for students with autism for college.

Bryann Burgess

Keynote Session: Rethinking disAbilties and Engaging Families in the Performing Arts

A young woman with Down syndrome shares her reflections of her journey in the performing arts thus far, and the importance of including families in the arts.

About the Keynote

Bryann Burgess is a 2012 CarolinaLIFE graduate from the University of South Carolina, where she studied voice, piano, and acting. She is a certified Kindermusik teacher, and a crew member at Trader Joe's for four years. Bryann sings in the Sanctuary Choir at Trenholm Road UMC and performs in local community theatre. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Columbia Children's Theatre. Bryann is a recognized motivational speaker who enjoys advocating and being a voice for people with disabilities. She enjoys reading, dancing, swimming, creative writing, and spending time with family and friends.
