Autism Scoiety: Navigate the Vaccine Experience

This June, we highlight Pride Month's intersectionality between Autism and LGBTQ+ communities, inclusive summer activities for families and individuals with Autism, and continued water safety materials.

People with disabilities often report inaccessible registration, transportation, and lack of in-home options as barriers to vaccination. The Vaccine Education Initiative promotes accessibility at every stage of the vaccine experience.

Do you need help locating a clinic near you, scheduling an appointment, or finding transportation to your healthcare appointments? The Disability Information and Assistance Line (DIAL) is here to help!

DIAL helps people with disabilities get connected to information about local community resources that support independent living. Launched in 2021 to help disabled people access COVID-19 vaccinations, DIAL also provides information as transportation services, housing support, disability rights, and more. You can contact DIAL by calling 888.677.1199, emailing DIAL@usaginganddisability.org, or by visiting dial.acl.gov to connect with a specialist online.

Are you looking for other local services? The AutismSource (TM) can help! AutismSource (TM) is a searchable database of national providers. Learn about providers in your area using AutismSource today!

If you need additional support locating resources, you can contact our National Helpline:

The National Helpline is not a crisis line. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, connect to the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255, or connect to emergency community services by calling 211.

Both DIAL and AutismSource (TM) are great resources to help you find the support you deserve. or more information, access the Autism Society’s What to Expect Social Story!
