Autism Society Vaccine Education Initiative

This June, we highlight Pride Month's intersectionality between Autism and LGBTQ+ communities, inclusive summer activities for families and individuals with Autism, and continued water safety materials.

The end of the year is a great time to set goals for the future and reflect on the year prior. In 2023, the Autism Society had the opportunity to build on our Vaccine Education Initiative (VEI): a national program focused on addressing barriers to healthcare, while promoting vaccine education, confidence, and access.

Through this year’s participation in the Aging and Disability Vaccine Collaborative (ADVC) in partnership with USAging and the Administration for Community Living, the Autism Society has been able to further our goals of increasing vaccine accessibility and providing education.

Nineteen Autism Society affiliates are actively participating in the ADVC, and we proudly highlight the accessible vaccination, outreach, and education events they have shared with their communities this year!

We are rewriting the vaccine experience nationwide - creating a path to increased health for Autistic individuals and others with disabilities and complex support needs.

In the first two years of this groundbreaking VEI program, we:

  • Celebrated a 99% success rate at piloting vaccine clinics
  • Delivered over 225 community education programs
  • Trained over 3,700 healthcare professionals
  • Created 200+ new local, regional, and national partnerships
  • Planned and supported 157 accessible vaccine clinics across 23 states...and much more!

The connection is you!

While focusing on vaccination, — a critical priority in healthcare, — we have the opportunity to create systemic change to increase health equity. The Autism Society is committed to providing the resources and connections that improve outcomes for patients, providers, caregivers, and their communities.
