White Cane Day Celebration Webinar  
Date & Time:  Oct 15, 2025 11:00 AM  in  Eastern Time (US and Canada) 
Target Audience: All are welcome. Description of Webinar: Join us for a warm, engaging celebration of the white cane – a powerful symbol of independence. Whether you use a cane now or are curious to learn more, this event offers a look at how the white cane has evolved and what it means to people across generations. We will share personal stories, cultural connections, and fun facts. Participants will:  
  1. Discover the history and cultural significance of the white cane. 
  2. Recognize the diverse roles the white cane plays in daily life, from safety and mobility to advocacy and identity. 
  3. Examine how the white cane has evolved across generations.  
Speakers Names: Alex Livingston and Tyler Trichillo  
Speaker Biographies:  
Alex has been an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for five years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from UNC Asheville and a master’s degree in special education from North Carolina Central University. She serves children and adults with vision loss throughout the state of South Carolina.  
Tyler has been a Certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) for six years and is serving his second year as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS). He holds a bachelor's degree in special education from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Pittsburgh. Tyler is a full-time service provider for school-age children and adults with vision loss in Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas. In his free time, Tyler enjoys surfing, practicing jiu-jitsu, and playing the guitar.
