This July, we highlight how to prepare for Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, back-to-school preparation, making informed decisions for supports and services, and tips to make the most out of summer vacations. Our Public Policy resources provide information on Medicaid services, including home and community-based services.
Did You Know: In 2022, 7.3 million, or 15% of public school students received special education or Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) services. The Autism Society highlights the importance of back-to-school preparation and setting IEP meetings to better plan for success.

Making Informed Decisions
Autism Society affirms that each person who experiences Autism is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to services and supports. To the maximum extent possible, informed decisions should be made by the individual with Autism and their family members in partnership with a multidisciplinary team. As you begin to prepare for the back-to-school season, we encourage you to check out our resources.

Vaccine Education Initiative Program Expansion
The new grant from the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative – an initiative funded by the U.S. Administration for Community Living to provide outreach, technical assistance, and support to promote vaccination uptake – will help the Autism Society substantially expand the Vaccine Education Initiative (VEI). This ensures more people will receive factual, unbiased information about vaccines, safety, and public health, as well as expanded access to supported vaccine clinics and trained healthcare providers.
