Dementia 101: The Basics

Dementia 101 the Basics flier from SC Department on Aging, Free live webinar held the first Wednesday of each month.

The South Carolina Department on Aging presents “Dementia 101: The Basics” the first Wednesday of each month. This is a free, live webinar providing education and resource information to anyone in SC who wants or needs to learn about the basics of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.  Many topics are covered, including:

  • Defining dementia and the difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
  • Types and stages of dementia
  • Signs and symptoms
  • Risk factors
  • Treatments
  • Diagnosis and next steps
  • Resources in our community that can help support a person living with dementia and their caregivers

Pre-registration is required for each session.

NOTE:  the typical time for this webinar is 1-2pm. However, to allow as many people to access this session as possible, our August 2nd session will be held from 7-8pm. The September 6th webinar will return to the 1-2pm time frame.

A participant is able to choose which month they would like to register for this event.  The Department on Aging also provides in-person dementia education programs as requested.
