"A Matter of Balance" Classes
Falls hurt! And they can cause many types of injuries. It is important to consider ways to keep yourself safe and help prevent falls in your home and in the community. Adding grab bars or railings next to showers and tubs, improving lighting in the home and around buildings, and regular visits to the eye doctor are all ways people with disabilities can prevent falls. Another way to prevent falls is connecting with fall prevention programs or exercise classes.
The Brain Injury Association of South Carolina is offering a free class starting August 16th, 2023, that will meet every Wednesday and Friday until September 8th, 2023. Each class will meet from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
In the ‘Matter of Balance’ class, students will:
- Learn to view falls as controllable
- Set goals for increasing activity
- Learn to reduce fall risks at home
- Exercise to increase strength and balance
