Autism Society, Water Safety

Autism Acceptance Month is almost here!
June is Pride Month

This June, we celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and recognize the unique experiences of LGBTQIA+ Autistic individuals. A higher percentage of Autistic people identify as LGBTQIA+ compared to the general population—and intersectionality matters. By understanding how gender, sexuality, and neurodiversity intersect, we can build more inclusive, affirming, and supportive spaces for all.

It Takes Two to Save A Life

Drowning is a serious risk for individuals with Autism, other developmental disabilities, and Alzheimer’s/Dementia. Autistic children are 160 times more likely to drown than their neurotypical peers. For individuals with Alzheimer’s, 6 in 10 will wander—and the chances of survival drop dramatically after just 48 hours.

The Autism Society is proud to launch It Takes Two, a national initiative supported by the Kevin and Avonte Grant (K&A), aimed at reducing drowning and wandering-related tragedies. This campaign raises awareness and equips families, caregivers, and first responders with life-saving tools, training, and resources.

New Employment Courses Added - Becoming An Autism-Informed Organization

The Autism Society's Becoming an Autism-Informed Organization series is now available through our Training and Resource Center. Building on our existing employment trainings, these new courses will empower organizations to foster inclusive, supportive workplaces for Autistic individuals. Each course can be taken on its own or as part of a course package—covering communication, sensory inclusion, emotional regulation, and social belonging.
